Today's society doesn't exactly lend itself to producing the best behaved kids, most have a bad attitudes and a serious lack of respect, these poor traits can stay with them for many years ... maybe until they get into more serious trouble. Children learn through imitation - so it stands to reason... if you want a confident, self-assured, healthy and mentally strong child, you need to give them a good example to copy – someone and something that will keep them on the right track.
Most Role Models in today’s world are the very worst kind of examples for our children. These people may be successful, but there always in the media for all the wrong reasons. So where do you find a good role model for your child, the almost secret and often overlooked answer is ... Martial Arts. Now before images of The Karate Kid flash through your mind, let me explain something ... It's more than just teaching kids how to punch and kick. Martial arts can instill discipline, confidence and self-esteem into children far and above any other sport or physical event.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a martial art discipline that uses grappling techniques similar to judo. There is no striking in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu which means that we do not teach children how to punch and kick. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can teach kids to be stronger, more confident and less prone to bullies. The fundamentals of Brazilian jiu-jitsu focus on how a smaller, weaker person can defend themselves against a larger opponent through the use of leverage and flexibility.
We teach the kids that learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu more than just Martial Arts. We teach them how to become better mentally and physically, and how to overcome problems and challenges with respect for themselves and others. You see, Jiu-Jitsu is a calm, even serene martial art. Your child will learn that aggression is not necessary. Likewise they'll acquire the skill of judgment - being able to deduce right from wrong in a calm, authoritative manner. Your child will learn to act and react to everything that goes on around them, analyzing each situation with a calm, respectful outlook. It's this attitude, one of respect for themselves and others, which will lead to them becoming confident, self-disciplined super achievers.
Our kids BJJ program is unlike any other, most academies teach a few fancy moves with little or no real training, our kids grappling class focuses on realistic Martial Arts techniques. We don’t just teach fancy forms or kata. They will not learn to chop and kick the air or break boards. They are going to learn realistic and proven techniques for self defense. The kids train hard but safe, and every child is given plenty of attention during each class. Every class is both fun and challenging with a strong emphasis on discipline and fitness.
You can expect your child to become more disciplined, focused, respectful, confident, healthy, improve academically and much more. Our classes are designed to give your child the confidence and positive attitude he/she deserves. We teach our kids quality, effective self defense while making each class challenging, technical and fun. Through the martial arts your child will develop skills that will last him/her for a lifetime.
I believe Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the best form of Martial Arts to teach a child because;
Punches and Kicks are an ineffective tool for children to defend themselves against a bigger and / or stronger person. Children are unable to deliver a strike with enough force or power to disable a bigger, stronger attacker. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will teach your child how to break free and escape, or how to subdue and control an attacker.
I think most people would agree that children punching and or kicking another child is unacceptable under any circumstance. But as a parent you want to know that your child is safe when you are not around, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will teach your child to defend themselves without punches and kicks. Most schoolyard incidents end up on the ground, because Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is mostly about wrestling on the ground your child will have the skills needed to gain and keep control of a schoolyard bully.
For the young ones that enjoy competition, there are many opportunities throughout the year where Kids & Teens come together to test their skills against others that are the same size & weight as them. Kids & Teens Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competition is all about sportsmanship with rules that make it safe for your child to compete.

Increase Their Mental Skills - our program will promote self-confidence and self-esteem. This means your child will feel much stronger in the face of peer pressure and is far less likely to start hanging out with "the wrong crowd".
Develop Leadership Skills - by improving your child's handle on their physicality and body language, they become a better communicator. A leader rather than a follower.
Increase Fitness and Physical Strength - our training will improve your child in all physical areas not to mention balance, coordination and timing skills.
Decision Making Skills – Your child will learn to make decisions while under pressure. They learn that this is best done with a clear mind while remaining calm. When they are able to succeed at making good decisions at training, their newfound confidence leads to them making better decisions throughout their life.
