The Cross Fit Method

What is Cross Fit

The Cross Fit Method is a conditioning program that utilizes training formats derived from Gymnastics, Olympic Weightlifting, Power Lifting, Sprinting, Kettlebells, Medicine Balls, Rowing and many other sporting disciplines. The Cross Fit Method focuses on the importance of proper movement through full ranges of motion and functional exercises. This produces a fitness level that is very transferable to all athletic pursuits as well as any daily physical tasks. The Cross Fit Method seeks to condition a person’s all round fitness obtaining maximum results in minimum time!

The Cross Fit Method believes in challenging all aspects of the human body to ensure the broadest and most general fitness possible. Our workouts test your efforts against a full range of general physical skills, with focus on performance, and measuring time and or power during each workout. The fitness that the Cross Fit advocates and develops is deliberately broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing, and this is what makes it the perfect strength & conditioning program, for everyone that wants real results.

Sassom & The Cross Fit Method

SASSOM Fitness has been providing Group Fitness since it’s infancy and has always trained its clients “outside of the box”; The Cross Fit Method is just an extension of the type of training that SASSOM Group Fitness has always offered. SASSOM Fitness is not a licensed CrossFit affiliate, but we do use The Cross Fit Method as the base for our Group Fitness sessions.

SASSOM Group Fitness uses a 5-day on & 2-day off training cycle. We post a workout Mon – Fri called WOD (Workout of the day) on the front page of our website. SASSOM Group Fitness has two WOD’s, one is called MetCon (Metabolic Conditioning) the other is Strength & Skill Development. The MetCon workout will get you huffing & puffing utilizing many varied exercises to create a workout that is like no other. MetCon workouts will condition all of the energy systems in the human body, while placing the muscle & skeletal system under enough stress to cause a positive adaptation. In the Strength & Skill workouts you will learn all of the fundamental exercises used in the MetCon workouts. Doing the Strength & Skill sessions will build the skill & base strength needed for the MetCon Workouts, all sports, and all walks of life. The best thing about the WOD is you never know what you will get.

The benefit of training with a group is that you are supervised by a trainer that will coach you to ensure good technique. The atmosphere and intensity when you train with a group of like-minded people just can’t be created any other way. The Trainers at SASSOM Group Fitness will guide you in the best way for you to start using The Cross Fit Method of training.

Scalability and Applicability

The question regularly arises can i do the Work Out of The Day as I am older, deconditioned, untrained, over-weight, well the answer is yes you can do the WOD. The needs of an Olympic athlete and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. One is looking for functional dominance the other for functional competence. Competence and dominance manifest through identical physiological mechanisms. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and elite athletes. We scale load, intensity and sometimes complexity; we don’t change the programs. So come in and try you first work out today.
