Marcus Collings - Principle Trainer I am the owner of SASSOM Fitness and I have built
the business from the ground up. My interest in training people started
when I was a young teenager racing BMX. One night per week at the local
BMX club I would coach the younger kids helping them improve their skills.
Then when I started Martial Arts it was not long before I was teaching the
new students on their first night. After obtaining my Black Belt I
was asked to take over the club when my instructor was moving away. I have
continued to train in and teach Martial Arts since 1991, and this has given me a
lot of experience in how to push people to their limit to achieve things that
they themselves never thought possible. After teaching Martial Arts & training Thai Boxing
fighters I decided it was time to learn more about the human body and
how to train it better. I enrolled in a Personal Training Course at a
local Brisbane college. I had started training some clients, so word was getting
around, and the business started to grow. Most of the clients that I
started with right in the beginning I still train today. The best thing about
training people is seeing them do what they never believed they could do; the
look on their face and the excitement that they have is just great, it keeps me
coming back for more. I developed an interest in rehab after working with
some of Brisbane’s best physiotherapists. I now have the skills to
train almost any client with almost any injury to assist them in getting back on
track and achieving their goals. I also find a lot of clients enjoy doing
some boxing and kickboxing as part their training. If you would like a trainer

Trainer Abera Afewerk - SASSOM
Level 1 Trainer I’ve always had an interest in sport and have participated competitively in soccer, cricket and AFL since the age of 10. My favourite sport is AFL and I have achieved personal goals such as QLD high performance selection and U16/17 TAC selection with the Western Jets. I still compete in representative AFL as well as club football on weekends. I am currently doing a traineeship with AFL Sports Ready and SASSOM Fitness to receive my certificate III and IV in fitness. I have vast knowledge of exercise and fitness training from my football experiences. I am currently increasing my knowledge in health and fitness to become the best Personal Trainer. I am dedicated to my clients and find it personally rewarding to see them reach their short and long term goals. My ambition is to continue learning to fulfil my thirst for knowledge and improve myself as a trainer. I see this as a life long journey and along the way I want to own my own gym and specialize in elite sports training. |
